  1. Avenue Q celebrating 11th anniversary with $11 tickets tonight

    Avenue Q, the Tony Award-​winning musical currently at New World Stages on W 50th St, is celebrating their 11th anniversary, and are having a special, discounted show tonight for it.

    The show tonight will be a “special interactive social media performance” named The Internet is for Q!, and the audience is encouraged to live-​tweet throughout the show. That may or may not sound like your kind of thing, but if it is, you can get in for just $11 (plus fees, of course…) Tickets are normally $75-$115, so it’s a pretty good deal.

  1. 10 years of Wicked

    Some news from Broadway: Wicked is celebrating 10 years this month, over at the Gershwin Theatre on 51st. As part of that, throughout October they’ve been running a “30 Days of Flight” giveaway on their Facebook page, with all sorts of memorabilia, tickets, etc.

    As for the theater, the other day crews were high above the streets updating the signage (nightmare) for the occasion:

  1. Broadway Bakes

    362 W 45th St

    Local cookie store Schmackary’s Cookies – just off 9th Ave on 45th St – teamed up with Broadway Cares/​Equity Fights AIDS to host “Broadway Bakes” last week, with a whole range of Broadway stars getting behind the counter and trying their hand at baking.

    The store celebrated their 1st birthday, so hosted the event to give back to the neighborhood. The neighborhood, in turn, showed up in droves, with lines out the door and people lining the counter, to get face to face with cast members from Newsies, Smash, Annie, and countless others:

    The event was, from all accounts, a big success, and half the proceeds went straight to the BCEFA.
