  1. Still time to donate to the HKFP Earth Day campaign

Now that the weather is improving, the Hell’s Kitchen Farm Project is getting ready to start the farm back up. If you don’t already know, the HKFP is a community farm on the roof of the church on W 40th St, running since 2010.

    An Earth Day graphic

Since it’s almost time to get started again, for Earth Day they’re running an Earth Day campaign to raise funds to help with the running of the farm. They’ve already reached their goal of $1000, but there’s still time if you want to contribute. Here’s the fundraiser.

  1. Cupid’s Undie Run went ahead today, despite the weather

Well, even though we had a wonderful wave of snow/ice/slush today, a lot of crazy brave runners stripped down to their underwear and went for a jog around Pier 84 as part of Cupid’s Undie Run, raising money for charity. Have a look at the fun from the warmth and comfort of your home:

So far, with races all over the country/world, they’ve raised over $2.6 million, which is pretty amazing. After the event, everyone headed back to Stage 48 for celebratory drinks and shelter from the weather. Overall it looks like a fun day for everyone!

  1. Cupid’s Undie Run is on tomorrow…and you thought it was cold now

    Stage 48

Freezing temperatures…snow piled everywhere…it’s the perfect time to strip down to your undies and go for a run! Tomorrow at midday a bunch of people will be doing exactly that for Cupid’s Undie Run, raising money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. So far they’ve raised almost $130,000, which is pretty impressive. The event is international too, with runs happening all over the country, and Australia…although I have to imagine they have it a bit easier weather-wise.

The runners will be heading off from around Stage 48, doing a lap of Pier 84, then back again for celebrations (and heaters). Everything starts around midday, but the actual run itself is at 2:30pm. And with a little bit of snow forecast tonight, it should make for an even more fun day tomorrow!
