Yum Yum Too has reopened from their two-​week renovations. Not too much has changed, it seems, but at least the Yum Yum trilogy is whole once again.

Italian restaurant Rino Trattorina has been closed for a number of months now while undergoing renovations. Over the past few days however that’s changed, and they silently went from closed-​for-​now to closed-​for-​good.

Here’s what the windows previously looked like, when the plan was still renovations:

The place had a rocky history, with a 2½ star rating on Yelp, this nightmare of an alternate website, and some bizzare tweets, but they’ve apparently been around since 1999, so it’s been an impressive run. Here’s the place in it’s heyday:

While Rino Trattorina may be closed, this isn’t the end: their sister store Daniela Trattoria is still going a few blocks south between 45^th & 46^th, so the Trattoria family lives on.

While many people were out roaming in costume on Halloween, Ñaño Bar & Restaurant held their grand opening night, which looks to have been a big success. The Ecuadorian spot is now open for business across the road from Hell’s Kitchen Park.

They worked quickly over the month since we first checked in with the constructions, and the end result looks good. Head over to their site to check out the menu.

Time for a check in at the incoming Pie Face on 8^th Ave. Last we saw back in September they were still installing drywall…they’ve made a lot of progress since then:

Pie Face are on a roll lately. They opened up a spot on 9^th Ave just a few months ago, and just last month opened a store at Union Square. You might as well just embrace the Australian sensation. With construction getting closer to finishing at the latest store, expert the prize wheel to be out the front in no time.

Il Punto, at 38^th & 9^th, is the latest in the string of renovations lately. Fortunately they haven’t closed down the whole place for it, so you can still get your Italian while they renovate.

At least they’re polite about it:

The long-​awaited Manhattan outpost of Brooklyn Fare opened last week on W 37^th St, and it’s already looking like it’s going to do well. The supermarket within it is stocked full of everything you can imagine, from made-​in-​store tortellini to flavored olive oils. We’ve had our eye on the not-​quite-​restaurant-​not-​quite-​supermarket for a while now, but now it’s finally a reality.

The place is somewhat split into two parts, and the supermarket portion of the place is fully up and running. The other half – a 45-​seat restaurant, with the notorious $225 multi-​course dinner – is scheduled to open at the end of the month, so you’d better start saving.

It’s almost time. The second location of the insanely-​popular Totto Ramen is gearing up to open. The paper’s come down from the windows, and revealed a nearly-​ready restaurant.

It’s a big change from the brick wall that used to be there, which street view captured:

They’ve been hard at work on the place over the past few months – here’s our previous coverage – but it looks like the construction’s quickly coming to an end. With any luck it’ll split the crowd outside the main Totto Ramen in half, so there’ll actually be a chance to get a seat at one of them.

It seems like fall is the season to do renovations. A little bit late, but Energy Kitchen closed a few weeks ago while they update the store.

As the sign says, if you can’t survive without your EK fix you can visit their other locations, but be warned: the nearest ones are down in Chelsea or way across town.

Yum Yum Too, also known as “the second Yum Yum”, apparently has a case of the restaurant-​equivalent of middle child syndrome so has closed for renovations.

It’s definitely going to be tough to find somewhere to replace Yum Yum Too while they’re closed. There’s nothing like them at all nearby…except I guess for Yum Yum 1 and Yum Yum 3 literally the next block over.

So basically, you have to cross the road for your Yum Yum fix. We’re definitely low on options for Thai on 9^th Ave.

Turns out the Greek spot Ouzaria, between 50^th & 51^st on 9^th, isn’t closed for good, but are actually just doing renovations. The place closed mysteriously in the past months, and there hadn’t been too many signs of life since then. Today though we got a peek behind the curtain shutters, and found the signs that explained everything.

As the sign says, you can still order from their still-​open place next door, so don’t worry, there’s not a total lack of Greek food in that area just yet.
